Reference for water ingress cases and treatment methods of refrigeration units

Water inflow into the refrigeration system means that water has been mixed into the refrigeration cycle system. This situation may cause a variety of problems. Water will cause the chemical properties of the refrigerant to change, affecting its refrigeration effect and reducing the efficiency of the refrigeration equipment. Secondly, water and refrigerant may form acidic substances after mixing, which will corrode the metal parts inside the air conditioner and shorten the service life of the equipment. In addition, water may also freeze under low temperature conditions, block the small pipes of the air conditioning system, affect the normal flow of the refrigerant, and cause the entire refrigeration system to work abnormally.

Reference for handling more water in the refrigeration system
1. Disassemble the refrigeration system components: condenser, evaporator, compressor (remove the oil filter), high-pressure drying filter, expansion valve, solenoid valve, stop valve, liquid storage tank, connecting pipes, etc. can be disassembled (large components do not have to be shifted) to facilitate the next step.
2. Segmented blowing: Use nitrogen pressurization and instant release to blow out as much water as possible from the components. If the refrigerant system pipeline is complicated, you can use a welding torch to burn the pipeline in certain parts according to the specific situation and blow out the water in sections.
3. Restore the refrigeration system: After restoring the entire unit, open all the passages in the refrigeration system (the valve core of the expansion valve, the high-pressure drying filter core, and the valve core of the solenoid valve are not installed for the time being, and the oil filter and refrigeration oil in the compressor are not added for the time being), and use a longer time than usual to evacuate the vacuum (it is best that the components can be heated and the compressor can be connected to the oil heater, the purpose is to accelerate the evaporation of the remaining water in the system).
4. Start operation: Confirm that the water in the system is basically removed, then restore the refrigeration system, install a clean oil filter, a high-pressure drying filter core, add refrigeration oil, and proceed according to the normal assembly steps of the unit.

Reference for handling when the refrigeration system does not have much water
1. Replace the filter: First replace the high-pressure drying filter of the unit system. If it is a dry filter barrel, you can use clean and dry degreased gauze to make a pocket and then modify the active "alumina particles" and the amount of color-changing silica gel (to facilitate observation of water content), and replace the original water-containing refrigeration oil in the compressor.

2. Replace the filter again: After the machine has been running for a period of time, replace the dry filter again. Pay attention to the color-changing silica gel to determine the degree of water content in the system, and run it repeatedly according to this operation sequence.

3. Start the machine and run: Confirm that the water in the system is basically eliminated, replace the clean oil filter, high-pressure dry filter element, refrigeration oil, etc., and proceed according to the normal assembly sequence of the unit.

Case of water inlet to the cold storage parallel system
Fault phenomenon: Heat recovery is installed in the low-temperature system of the cold storage. In winter, in order to prevent the condensation pressure from being too low, the air intake, liquid outlet, water inlet, and water return of the heat recovery are closed. Soon after the water valve and gas valve were opened in March, water droplets and mist were found on the sight glass of the unit's storage tank, and it was realized that the heat exchanger had leaked, and all valves were closed immediately.
Cause of the problem: After on-site analysis and disassembly and inspection of the on-site exchanger, the reason was that the water in the heat exchanger was not drained clean (which may be related to the internal dirt). As a result, the water in the lower half of the heat exchanger was not drained clean. The water that is not released from the lower half of the exchanger freezes in winter, which causes the copper tube inside the exchanger to rupture. When the heat exchanger is used, moisture enters the refrigeration system.
Emergency solution: First close the suction and exhaust valves and oil circuit valves of all unit compressors, remove the filter element of the liquid supply system and the filter element of the return air system, make a bag the size of the filter with gauze, put the absorbent silica gel into the filter barrel.
Start operation: Start a compressor, turn on the cold storage system, and allow the refrigerant to circulate. If the expansion valve is found to be blocked by ice, it can be blown open with hot water or hot air. Replace the silica gel repeatedly every 2-4 hours to absorb the moisture in the system. After the overall operation is normal, replace the refrigeration oil, oil filter and liquid supply return air filter element. If necessary, replace it twice.
